In August of this summer, I am opening my first solo exhibition "Mandorla". For over ten years I have been studying and teaching icon painting, which has influenced my personal work technically and conceptually. I decided to spend a year painting a collection that would summarize my searchings in meaning and in my artistic style.

"Mandorla" is Italian for almond. This is the almond shape of the halos depicted behind Christ and The Mother of God in icons. Among many other places, a similar symbol can also be found in Asian art, where a mandala surrounds the Buddha. I see this shape as a portal between the seen and the unseen worlds or of that which is between the known and the unknown. Where could we find this portal in our everyday lives, how could we access it? I delve into this search through symbols. I believe that archaic symbols reach our subconscious and their meaning is revealed to us at the right time.

Together with your support, the exhibition opens on the 4th of August in Kuressaare, Saaremaa and stays open until the end of September.

As a supporter you will receive, as a gift from me, a print from among my new paintings. I will send the print after the exhibition has opened and the work is officially public and you have chosen the print of your liking. I will take care of the shipping costs.

If you have supported with the highest amount proposed, you will receive a personalized commission work, the details of which we will discuss with each other. The waiting time for that could take from 1-3 months after the exhibition opening date. I will cover the shipping costs.
