Hello, dear supporter!
I am Gerda Lõokene: musician, teacher, composer and songwriter. I've decided to publish my new music album "The journey of the soul", where you hear mine and Kristjan Tamošiunas's creation in the years of 2014-2024. These mother language original songs are about longing for love, the change of the 4 seasons and the beauty of nature in ourselves and around us.
From this album you will hear 12 songs, which I have sang and played on Estonian traditional kannel, guitar and piano. Two of them are instrumental pieces of early music arranged by me. The whole of the album and uniqueness give many musicians from over Estonia: on vocals Kristjan Tamošiunas, on flute Susanna Mõtsmees, on cello Camillo Cabassi, on classical guitar Kelly Johannes, on saxophone and vocals Karl Tipp, on double bass Fredor Bezrukov and many others. The recording and mixing is located in Velle Tamme home studio.
The presentation of the album will be on 22.03.2025 at 18.00 in Viljandi, Sakala centre (Tallinna 5) big hall.
My music journey started at 9 years old, where I went learning chromatic kannel in Lasnamäe Music School. After three years I already composed my own pieces inspired by nature and took part in different original creation competitions. After that I studied kannel interpretation at G. Ots Music High School, in Kristi Mühling's class and at the same time I sang and composed my own songs.
"Hingerännak" ("The journey of the soul") is a song in the beginning of my more mature creation, where I dreamed of wandering around the world, but after graduating Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre my journey took me in Viljandi county instead to focus on my soul life and live deeply as one with nature. In the year of 2022 I released my debut album "Üks ja ainuke" ("One and only flower"), which is dedicated to Estonian traditional instrument kannel. Right now I work as a kannel teacher at Tõrva Music School to keep and carry on an important tradition of this instrument.
The project has 3 financial goals:
- 3,000 euros completion: digital release of the album "Hingerännak" ("The journey of the soul")
- 4,000 euros completion: CD release of the album "Hingerännak" ("The journey of the soul")
- 5,000 euros completion: digital and CD release of the album "Hingerännak" ("The journey of the soul") and music video for the song "Hingerännak" in the summer of 2025.
