The year was 1993, when three metalheads and one slightly less metal head (Tarvo Valm, Jan Talts, Anders Melts ja Margus Gustavson) made their way to the legendary Linnahall studio and Elmu Värk to record their first demo "Behind The Abysmal Sky". For this, Anders's mom had just sold their colour television set brought from Finland and with the proceeds, contributed to her teenage son's big dream. The demo turned out great beyond expectations and quickly spread around the world. There were listeners all the way from Malta to Singapore, not to mention Scandinavia and the Baltics. The recording also won the attention of a young Finnish record label, who wanted Forgotten Sunrise to return to the studio quickly to record the planned 7-inch vinyl. At the end of the same year, this time with Indrek Patte, four fresh songs were recorded. Their total length reached nearly 20 minutes and that was too much to fit on a little vinyl. So it was decided that it would be released on a new format, the CD. The disc in question was the first CD to be released by an Estonian metal band, and also the first domestic metal release to be issued outside of Estonia.
30 years has passed and it's finally time to mold these two legendary recordings into a vinyl record. In order to make that happen, we really need your support.
We've come up with all kinds of interesting bundles for you all to choose from and find something to your liking. There will only be 100 coloured vinyl (200 of black) and they'll be a kind of beautiful green splatter colour that harmonizes well with the renewed cover art. Why renewed? The design that you'll see on the record sleeve is what the "Forever Sleeping Greystones" mini-album should have originally looked like. A couple of years ago, Anders went to Iru forest to look up the forever sleeping mossy childhood stone and specially took the photo that will end up on the vinyl. As kids, Anders and Jan frequently visited that stone with their friends just to ponder and chat, and from that, the idea for the name of the first EP was born as well. They called the stone a camel because its face likened to one. All the bags and shirts in the bundles are also exclusive and won't be sold separately. Only the CD issued by Nailboard some time ago is in the same form as it was already released.
If everything goes according to plan, the vinyl will be released in mid-July, just before the band performs this same old material with the original lineup at Käbliku festival!
Thank you all for supporting early Estonian death metal and a piece of history!
If you need it to be signed, let us know! Thank you!
