My name is Andrea Costa, Italian man of Estonian adoption I like to say ! I have spent half of my family life, almost 30 years, in Tallinn, where with my Estonian Wife we have brought up 3 children (One boy and two girls, now more than twenties years old).
We are in a terrible moment of war, I know, but now more than ever it's important for Estonia to let people know, all around the world, that Estonian Nation exists! Estonian Population has its own language, traditions and culture!
The most important thing to make known is that the First Estonian Republic was founded in 1918 and recognized by United Nations. After the Second World War, The Republic of Estonia was occupied by Soviet Union! Estonian People never accepted it, that's why Estonian Official Government was established in exile on 12 of January 1953 in Oslo and it was active until 1992!
Some years ago I began to study in depth how to better present the Estonian Culture and the Estonian Nation to other countries and nationalities, and I think I got it: The Cards!
In every Estonian Family there is a Deck of Cards, but they are French Cards! The signs are French, not Estonian!! In Italy for example there are Neapolitan cards to identify Naples and also Romagnole cards to identify Romagna (Land where there are the cities of Imola, Ravenna, Lugo di Romagna, Faenza).
So I have studied the Estonian culture and traditions and I have created the Estonian cards with Estonian signs and exclusive games according to the signs!
I prepared the whole project and presented it to Mrs Katrin Veiksaar, Director of Bologna Milaan Eesti kool. She is really enthusiastic about this! We have created a playful-educational tool to become cards and an app, with the dual purpose of:
- Promoting Estonian culture, traditions and history to our new Estonian generations, to make them understand how difficult was the path that has allowed the Estonian State to exist!
- Promoting Estonian culture, traditions and history to the millions of tourists who visit Estonia every year, to make them understand that here is Estonia, an European Country always inhabited by Estonians with their own language and culture!
Our playful-educational tool is a paper and interactive card game (APP that could connect all the Estonians around the world!). Simple but very endearing, with the conception of typical and exclusive Signs of the Cards, related to Estonian Culture!
We want to become the Official Estonian National Card Game!
It's something that could be used from the Estonian Government as special gift to the foreign delegations, during meetings and to all the foreign embassies and consulates that are here in Tallinn with their offices!
