Estonian five-piece instrumental act Ocean Districts deliver a heavy, progressive and sludgy post-rock sound. With their 2014 debut album "Expeditions" the band built a sound that is both weighty and vigorous, often bathing in elegant beauty but also packing some hard punches. The success of this album led to shows with God Is An Astronaut in Estonia and Latvia, an extensive touring in Finland and supporting gigs with Sólstafir, Alcest and Dirge. Their latest EP "Doomtowns" constitutes a leap forward, further expanding upon the sound of their debut album. It was inspired by nuclear tests conducted by the Soviet Union and the US during the Cold War-era.
The new album currently being recorded is the bands most ambitious work to date having spent over 3 years working on it. The nearly hour long 10-track double vinyl genre bending release is more mature and diverse and will pack a lot of surprises. It will also mark the first time the band will experiment with use of (guest) vocalists in their music.
The recording of the album will end around July 2022. Vinyls, shirts and hoodies will be ready by the end of the year. Album presentation shows will happen during the winter or start of winter. Supporters of this album will get their gifts after the vinyls are pressed and album is ready. Shipping within Europe is free, fans from further regions of the earth will have to pay a modest shipping fee according to the destination.
