What if survival meant selling the very memories that define you?
"Memory Merchant" is a science fiction short film that follows Magnus, who is trying to sell his memories in order to survive in a near-future dystopian world. As he trades pieces of his past, he is forced to confront the true cost of survival.
DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT
With this film, I want to immerse audiences in an experience that makes them reflect on their own memories. If you had the chance to sell your past, would you? If you could buy someone else's memories, whose would you choose?
Through Magnus's journey, this short movie explores the strong connection between memories, identity, and emotions. This story highlights the power of personal memories and their impact on mental well-being, leaving audiences questioning their value and the role they play in shaping our sense of self and our connections to others.
WHY WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT
We are BFM students working on our final thesis film, and taking on a sci-fi project is an ambitious challenge. World-building, storytelling, and cinematography all require precision and creativity, and we are determined to showcase everything we've learned over the past three years.
You are not just a supporter - you are a memory buyer.
By contributing to this project, you are placing a bid on a piece of the journey, becoming part of this world where memories hold currency. You are helping to extract and preserve a shared memory - this very film.
We have big dreams, but a small budget. Your support directly fuels:
The largest portion of our budget is allocated to production design, which is the backbone of this project. Building a believable alternative universe is both a challenge and a creative reward, but it also comes at a cost. Our crew is working tirelessly to craft an immersive world that invites the audience in. Your support will help bring this vision to life.
