Short film "Why?" is the joint project of students from Estonia and Russia.

More than 800 000 people commit suicide every year, that's one person every 40 seconds. Suicide is caused by mental disorders such as depression and physical illness. But loneliness is the main reason. Are the lonely people doomed to die? No, these deaths can and should be prevented. Each of us can simply take an interest in the problems of loved ones, support friends in difficult times and not pass by a person who calls for help.
About the film:
In modern Europe such heart-to-heart conversations are clearly regulated and take place in a psychological mutual assistance club under the guidance of psychologists. We decided to imagine what would happen if the psychologist and the patient changed places.
The basis of the plot of the film "Why?" is the personal drama of the psychologist Victor, told through the prism of the fates of four patients of the group of psychological mutual help - surviving suicides.
Despite the fact that the film is based on the stories of people who tried to commit suicide, there will be no cruel and terrible renderings of scenes in the film that have a detrimental effect on the psyche of impressionable viewers. Our goal is not to shock the audience, but to reveal the heroes and their souls.
The main character, the psychologist Victor, is a very vulnerable person. He empathizes with every patient. But he was not used to talking about his problems. His patient Eugenia is an unsociable girl. But she will overcome the pain, trust the desperate psychologist, tell her terrible story and support Victor in difficult times. She will lend him a helping hand. But Victor's relatives - mother and wife will become the two main reasons that pushed Victor to a desperate step. Victor's three patients will become some kind of "cockroaches" in Victor's head. By telling their personal stories, they will explain why they wanted to kill themselves, but in fact, they will explain why Victor no longer wants to live.
Logline:
At a meeting of the club of psychological mutual assistance, the surviving suicide will recognize the suicidal tendencies of the psychologist of the rehabilitation group and try to prevent his death.
