Expansion of Pram MuseumUser's  MTÜ Käru Heade Tegude Muuseum project in the category Civic initiative

Our project is dedicated to restoring a historic building and transforming it into a unique museum complex that offers a variety of experiences to visitors. Our goal is to provide accommodation, catering, events, workshops, and cultural residencies, all within the walls of this remarkable location. Over the next three years, we aim to establish the Pram Museum (originally Käru Muuseum) as Europe's premier destination for pram enthusiasts. With the largest and most diverse collection of prams on display, we will introduce innovative recycling methods and educate visitors about the importance of sustainability. We believe that our project has the potential to inspire and educate people from all walks of life, while also preserving an important piece of history. By contributing to our crowdfunding campaign, you can help us make this vision a reality and create a one-of-a-kind destination that will be cherished for years to come. Join us on this exciting journey and be a part of something truly special!

The Pram Museum started its activities in 2012 with the aim of reducing consumption, preserving history, restoring old traditions and preserving memories. Most of our museum's collection has been saved from the landfill. We have restored hundreds of old items and seen many people who are happy to see their childhood toys, prams or other forgotten items again.

The museum is located in Järva County, Käru township, in the railway station building built in 1900 (partly restored by us) and in the railway barn built in 1915 and restored in 2008. The museum works on the basis of volunteer work, and we have a total of 8 active volunteers who work as guides, restorers, archivists, etc. The opening of the Pram Museum as a museum of carts and carriages to the public took place on 20.12.2018. We regularly repair the museum buildings and improve and supplement the collection.

The collection of prams of our museum already includes over 200 exhibits and over 1,500 different objects related to childhood, such as dolls, toys, children's clothes, baby bottles, items related to child care, etc. In addition, our collection includes over 2,000 different photos and postcards, negatives, a separate collection of stamps, etc. Every year our collection grows. We have unique so-called Estonian-era (first half of the 20th century) strollers and unique 18th and 19th century baby carriages that come from Estonia as well as 32 different countries. This makes our museum unique not only in Estonia, but throughout Europe.
