I hope I can release my second solo-album "Modern Mythology" with your help. It's a modern rock album that contains rock and folk elements.
Music has always been central in my life – I wrote my first song at the age of 4 and began piano lessons. Over the past 15 years I've worked as a professional musician, performing over 1000 concerts in nearly 20 different countries. I've honed my singing, music production and songwriting skills at various international schools and with private teachers, including Berklee School of Music, London Songwriting Academy, Judy Stakee, and Rytmisk Center. I've written hundreds of songs and in 2015 my song "Genius" won a songwriting competition in England in collaboration with BBC Radio.
In 2019, I released my debut album "Synchronize." It was a massive project for me. It was recorded in collaboration with Swedish producer Ricky Delin and a 10-piece band from Estonia. After releasing the album things were rolling – we were chosen as the opening act for the American rock band X Ambassadors and we had several gigs lined up in Scandinavia and Germany. However, due to the global pandemic, fate had other plans and all our carefully laid-out plans and built-up momentum were wasted.
In the face of these challenges, I tried to find my courage, magic and inner strength to fearlessly overcome the obstacles that stood before me. With this intention I created the album "Modern Mythology" – to share my journey through the trials and inspire others to do the same.
"Modern Mythology" was recorded with many talented musicians. The core band includes Valdur Viiklepp (bass), Oskar Malleus (guitar), and Sten Loov (drums). The album was co-produced with Tõnis Noevere (Metsatöll). Our goal, both with Tõnis and the band, was to create something exciting, explosive and fresh for the world of rock.
At the beginning of this year I also decided to change my artist name from Ike Rann to Ikevald. Additionally, I've made many bold production decisions compared to my previous album. So, in both cases, it's about more authentic, raw and genuine music that resonates with my essence and is significantly more unfiltered.
Most of the songs on this album are my own creations but in three songs I collaborated with songwriters from Estonia, Finland and the United States. The album also features guest performers such as Rein Rannap, Asim Searah, Carl Tuuli, Jason Hunter, Frederik Fabricius and Penny Lundborg.
This time around, the album release shows will take place in Tallinn (1/11) and Copenhagen (11/11).
