ABOUT THE FILM
Don't Look Away is a short fiction film about two delinquent online streamers whose bad day is going to get a lot worse when they lose their last bit of money to online casinos.
The project was born out of the directors research into IRL-streaming and gambling addicts creating entertainment from their own demise. Through this subject we want to explore our human desire for attention, what it means to be seen and the ethics of consuming this content.
DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT
My name is Joonas Lind and I am currently studying in BFM with a focus on directing and writing. Don't Look Away will be my thesis film and final project before graduation.
With this project I want to challenge myself by approaching visual storytelling in a new way and to blend the fragmented content which many of us consume into a more traditional cinematic language.
With this film we intend to show a glimpse into a sociocultural phenomenon rarely seen in mainstream media and to make the audience question their role as viewers.
WHY DO WE NEED MONEY?
Making movies is very costly and while our university gives us a small budget for our thesis film, in order to execute it to its fullest potential we need further funding. Money from the crowdfunding campaign will be used for many important things. First and foremost, to make sure our cast & crew have fresh, nutritious food on set and to cover transportation and location costs. Additionally, our Art Department needs funds to be able to execute their creative vision and craft a believable and unique world for our story.
