We are ALPA Kids. We create culture-based digital educational games for 3-8 year olds in partnership with schools and kindergartens.
One in five children under the age of three in Estonia use a smart device every day and 70% of seven-year-olds already have their own smart device. But what are these kids doing on their smart devices? To give them something to do that would be both educational and in the Estonian language, we developed ALPA digital educational games. ALPA games are: age-appropriate, designed in collaboration with teachers and researchers, integrated with off-screen activities and can also be used offline.
ALPA has more than 50 000 users, and ALPA games help children keep the Estonian language and culture alive in 126 countries around the world. However, many children with a native language other than Estonian are learning Estonian with the help of ALPA. Just recently, we were recognised as the people's favourite Language Act 2021. And now we want to pass on this gift to the children of Ukraine, who have been scattered around the world, far from their homes and their own people.
Please support us so that we can translate ALPA games into Ukrainian, and develop and adapt them to Ukrainian culture and education in cooperation with Ukrainian teachers. Let's make educational games available free of charge to all Ukrainian children in their native language and help keep Ukrainian language and culture alive everywhere! Together!
Our team will contribute €5000 to the project, but that is not enough to complete the app. The money raised will be used to translate, localise, validate, animate, develop, and distribute ALPA games. Depending on the amount raised, we will deliver either a 24-game version (to be completed by May 2022) or a 40-game version (to be completed by June 2022) as soon as possible.
Phase I for the 24-game version – €10 900
Phase II for the 40-game version – €19 750
